The Monk Who Listened to Silence
In a quiet
temple, hidden between mountains and clouds, a monk sat alone on the cold stone
floor. The hall was large and dark, but peaceful. Tall pillars stood like
silent guards around him.
The monk closed his eyes and crossed
his legs. His hands rested gently in his lap. He did not move. He did not
speak.
The monk breathed in.
He breathed out.
With every breath, his mind became
lighter.
With every moment of silence,
his heart became clearer.
As the monk sat in meditation,
memories began to appear in his mind. Old pain. Old anger. Old fear. They came
like shadows.
At first, the monk wanted to push
them away.
But then he remembered an important lesson:
Do not fight your thoughts.
Listen to them.
So he stayed still.
The shadows slowly changed. Pain
became understanding. Anger became forgiveness. Fear became wisdom.
In the deep silence, the monk heard
a quiet voice inside himself:
“Peace does
not come from running away.
Peace comes from understanding.”
A soft golden light filled the hall,
not from candles, but from calm awareness.
When the monk opened his eyes, the
hall looked the same—but he was
different. His heart was steady. His mind was clear like a still lake.
People began to visit the temple.
They came with heavy hearts and tired minds. The monk did not give them long
speeches.
He simply said,
“Sit.
Breathe. Listen.”
Slowly, people learned that silence
is not empty.
Silence is full of answers.
And so, the monk became a light—not because he shined brightly, but
because he was calm in the darkness.
